Morning Prayer

Leader: The Lord is our light and our life             Response: O come, let us worship.

Venite (Psalm 95.1–7): Call and response, together or on your own

Come, let us sing to the Lord

All: Let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation.

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving

All: And raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,

All: And a great king above all gods.

In his hand are the caverns of the earth,

All: And the heights of the hills are his also.

The sea is his for he made it,

All: And his hands have moulded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,

All: And kneel before the Lord our maker.

For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.

All: Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice!

Reader: Reading from Luke followed by the Meditative Refection (both provided)

Meditative Silence

Leader: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first and the great commandment. The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.

Response: Give us grace dear Abba to love as you love us.

Intercessions: The Intercessor may choose between themes of bringing light into darkness or “come Holy Spirit” and extemporaneously pray for Communities of Faith and Practice around the world; All in authority; the world; the local community; those in need including those known to us (silence for people to add aloud or in their hearts those who need support and blessing)

Prayer for St. Paul’s Together or on your own

Heavenly Father, you have welcomed us into your kingdom and your heart’s desire is to draw every human being to yourself. Grant us clear eyes to see people as you see them, sensitive feet to stand in their shoes, and warm smiles to welcome them into your name. Give us generous hearts, that our church becomes a foretaste of heaven where every soul you send us finds their loving home in the community of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Leader: Let us bless the Lord!                             Response: Thanks be to God!
